Evelyn Char is a Hong Kong-based art critic with a consistent focus on regional cultural exchange, politically engaged art practices and feminine aesthetics. She is the co-author of Farmers’ Horizon ( 2016 ), an in-depth study of the agricultural and cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Japan in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2015, and the author of a catalogue essay for the official Hong Kong presentation Shirley Tse: Stakeholders at the 58th Venice Biennale ( 2019 ). Her cross-disciplinary practice also involves research, curating and pedagogy across the fields of contemporary art and literature. She is currently on the editorial board of o-square, a quarterly that specialises in publishing long-form essays and critiques.
