Godfre Leung is a critic and curator based in Vancouver, Canada. His criticism is committed to the anchoring of affective writing on issues such as spatial politics, migration and diaspora by close formal analysis. His writing has appeared in magazines such as Art in America, The Third Rail and Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art; the collaborative artists’ book AA4 ( Clear As Day, 2019 ); and the catalogues for the exhibitions International Pop ( Walker Art Center, 2015 ) and Samson Young: It’s a heaven over there ( Centre A, 2019 ), to which he also contributed in curatorial capacities. In the last two years he has received support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Jerome Foundation for his writing practice. Before relocating to Canada, he was Associate Professor of Art History at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, USA.
