Liu Tian is a curator and deputy director of the Visual Culture Research Center at the China Academy of Art ( CAA ). He has been a researcher at CAA’s Institute of Contemporary Art and Social Thought ( ICAST ) and the School of Inter-Media Art ( SIMA ) and a founder of Open Matter Institute. He has a long-term commitment to the iteration of research-creation, involving curation, design, creation, theoretical research, design and writing, etc. As a writer, he has published in journals such as Artforum, New Arts, LEAP and Art World. He has curated diverse academic exhibitions since 2006 and he was a member of the curatorial collegiate of the 11th Shanghai Biennale, Why Not Ask Again: Arguments, Counter-arguments, and Stories. Liu Tan’s current practice focuses on generalised mass-oriented curation and design, with the interdisciplinary exploration of local grassroots, classical origins and sci-tech frontiers.

当前工作聚焦于面向大众的广域策展与设计,以及对乡土基层、古典源起与科技前沿的同步探索实践。
